Hanrak and Dearyth were lying on the grass by the side of the lake. It was nightime but Hanrak couldn’t get to sleep he couldn’t do that often lately. They were just chatting. Not really about anything on particular. Hanrak was really too busy thinking about Dearyth’s soon to be coming flight, he was nervous about it. He had never, been, with anyone before. He had never, done, anything like that with anyone. He was also worried about the fact that the only two riders of the dragons which he thought Dearyth was likely to choose, were males. And he wasn’t that interested in them. I mean of course, he and M’kal were friends, but he just didn’t like guys that way. And he hadn’t got to know the WhiteRider, so didn’t really know how he was inclined.
Mine, I know what you are thinking. So before I say anything else I am really sorry. So I know this probably isn’t a good time to spring this on you, but you should probably make your way back to our room. As others shall probably soon be arriving there, and it would be hospitable for them to get there before you.
Dearyth’s eyes were swirling fast and a deep purple in lust, but Hanrak could tell she was worried for him.
Well I wish you could have picked a better time, and yes, I am worried. Just make the right choice He didn’t want to make his little dragon feel too bad, but suddenly a wave of dragonlust overtook him. Fly high and far, mine. Show them what the only Silver queen can do.
Dearyth jumped up. Standing upright on her hind legs and bellowing to the sky, projecting her challenge to the males.
Males! Prove that you are worth the Silver queen!
Dearyth jumped upon the smallest wherry she could find. About to rip into the warm flesh of its belly until Hanrak realised she mustn’t gorge.
NO! DEARYTH! To fly high and far you WILL blood only.
Dearyth was not too far out of it and listened to ‘hers’ when he commanded knowing what he said was true and still not wanting him too distressed, although she knew soon she would not be able to help herself . Latching onto the neck she sucked out its blood. The smallest dragon then took to the sky. Her hide glowing like a bright white light, shining against the black night sky.

Hanrak staggered shakily back to his quarters, nervously awaiting the other riders soon to come. He hoped that Dearyth would make the right choice. That was his last thought before he let himself meld completely with Dearyth, not even waiting for the other riders before he did that. He just wanted to be with Dearyth. With the wind beneath their wings, he would be in the clouds soon.
