Active? :: We're quite active, normally, but we like a small site ^_^ more intimate, friendly, and less 'one of the crowd' situations. However, currently a few members are having Real Life troubles, so we're a little slower. All the more reason to JOIN and help us have fun!!!

DRAGONWINGS

With AIVAS's help, the Red Star was moved. Thread would fall for the next 50 turns, it was said, but it abruptly stopped at turn 25. As suddenly as it stopped, 5 turns later, it began again. These 'Falls only lasted another 5 turns before Thread was gone forever. The outpost on the Western Isles that had hosted a wing to protect its starhalls now held the riders led by a young queen and her favored bronze, who created a new Weyr. Moonlit Weyr soon proved itself as more than a way to ease the tension in the crowded Northern and Southern Weyrs: in the first clutch something happened. The volcanic ash long-undisturbed caused mutations in the color genes of the unborn dragonets. These new, additional colors are what make Moonlit somewhat special in a world that suddenly finds itself without a true need for the Weyrs. There are no new colors at the old Northern Weyrs, nor even at the Southern ones. While Moonlit's unusual looking dragons has protected it thus far, it wont be too much longer before someone questions the small Tithe...

IC time: Turn 2 of no Thread, month 7.
It's late into summer now even in the mountains, and Valureth's eggs are ready to meet the Candidates in the egg-brush. A Weyr-wide scavenger hunt should lighten the overall mood of the Weyr, create some unity and help the dragonriders trust one another. A secret library discovered by two candidates which also houses a bookstore; a depresed weyrling master; uneasy weyrfolk and holders, and a strange darkness hiding in the corners seems to be leading to something, but what is it? There are whispers, and unease: whatever the reason Raiin was killed at the Snows festival, at the Hold, that reason has not yet passed; the person has not yet been aprehended, and the suspects are few and far between. The Weyrwoman and Weyrleader are worried that its not over yet. With no more Thread to fight, what are Dragonriders to do? There are several possibilities, but will any dragonriders take to thte ideas? And what could the new rumor going around about the new dragon colors being special in other ways? Is there any point to these rumors?

*Important IC positions are open, such as Weyrharper, and CandidateMaster. The adoption of the Weyrleader, G'rin, is open for anyone, though a short test rp of his character must be done in order for him to be adopted.

*We have a good-sized clutch of a Sapphire and a Sand on the Hatching sands, so Candidates are Welcome and Needed!

*There Might be an NPC wherlet hatching in the future, if enough members are interested!

*There are several Female Flights coming up, and a few have the potential to clutch small numbers of eggs.

*We need at least one more moderator and a global moderator!

Golds and Bronzes tend to prefer heterosexual lifemates of the same gender, but we want to shake things up a bit- if it makes sense and is what is wanted, I'll let impression of male goldriders/female bronzeriders! And you can request 'cannon-only' impression for your candidate if you wish to.

UPDATE

We've all probably heard by now that the wonderful and inspirational Anne McCaffery passed away on the 21 of November. The world will mourn the loss of one of its greatest authors of all time. She left the world of Pern to her kids Todd and Gigi, and to Todd's daughter. But she also left it to all of us, the readers and the roleplayers, to enjoy for ages to come! Don't you think it's our job to reinvigorate pern roleplaying?

In IC News, The mourning Valureth's eggs are hard enough for the egg-brush, which is going on now - soon the eggs will hatch, and Valureth will go *between* forever. Candidates are welcome not only for the Sapphire's clutch, but for the still-hardening Spiral Faith's litle clutch as well.

The rumors of dragonkin having new abilities seem ot be true, though the exact specifics of these powers is unknown as of yet. We do know that the abilities are called "talents" and all seem to have to do with powers of the mind. And of course it's only the new colors, limited to Moonlit Weyr, that seem to have the Talents. So Lilacs, Teals, Sands, and all the rest are the ones who can do more than just telekinesis, telepathy, and teleportation.

The weather is turning colder, and most days are rainy, but there seems to be some sort of threat in the air. It's not like the darknes that surrounded Harper Raiin's death, but some of the dragons are uneasy nonetheless. And it doesn't help that the small population of wild felines on the isles are multiplying more like terran rabbits than most felines normally do - they seem to be a threat, but not the same one "bothering" dragonkin.

Still, despite the gloom, lots of fun things are happening, like eggs for sale in the flitter egg shop, (although the store is closing for the holidays, get the last discounted few eggs while they're available!) and the scavenger hunt! The first riddle-clues are being deciphered and soon the weyrfolk,dragonriders, weyrlings, and candidates involved will have a new clue to solve! Plus there's the harvest feast soon, and everyone gets to stuff their faces on that day! limited patrols, limited chores, and no lessons for a whole day!

"Hi, I'm Miri of Verelith, and I'm here to introduce you to MOONLIT WEYR. It's my home, despite the fact that I, my son and daughter, and my mate all live next door at Cloud Dragonhold. Moonlit Weyr is one of very few Weyrs nowadays, and the only one where we are on Pern. Nowadays being quite a large number of turns after AIVAS's plan was put into action. Oh yeah, that's an important thing about Pern these days: Very recently AIVAS' plan finally worked. You know what I mean, don't you? THREAD IS GONE FOR GOOD - it's never coming back! This leaves us, the dragonriders, with a bit of a DILLEMA, you know. What are we supposed to do now that our enemy is gone? We're finding things to do. Moonlit is DIFFERENT from the few Northern Weyrs and even from the Southern and Monacco Weyrs for several reasons. The first of these is that Moonlit Weyr is situated on the WESTERN ISLES. It was originally just an outpost to protect the Starhalls from Thread but now it's a fully-functional Weyr. Across the lake is the Dragonhold I and my mate, K'ron of Torenth, run. Back to things that make Moonlit different, right. Moonlit Weyr's long-undisturbed volcanic ash did something to Dragonkind. Soon after it was filled with dragons, a Gold's clutch revealed NEW COLORS OF DRAGONS! There are new colors, which means new ranks, and this is one of the major things that makes our Weyr UNIQUE. Where else would you find a greens-zied female dragon that could be born in practically any color combination imaginable?! That's what my dragones is. Verelith; she's a Pink-and-red SPIRAL, so named for the spiral-shaped markings her color has. Anyway, I'll tell you more about the colors later. And not only does Moonlit have New COLORS, but these new colors also have new ABILITES, called TALENTS, that go beyond the draconic norms of telepathy, telekinesis and teleportation. these TALENTS are only very recently discovered, and we don't know too much about them. So far, all we know is that the new colors of firelizards can sometimes have talents like some sort of foresight, and even manipulating small objects. On another note, Moonlit's also still the same old PERN. HATCHINGS, IMPRESSIONS, and even LESSONS take place per usual. We just have a few more HATCHINGS than other Weyrs, because nearly all the females can clutch so long as they're not on firestone. Moonlit Weyr is usually a pretty fun place to be, apart from business as usual, which now translates to being messengers, transport, guards, and anything else you might think up for us Draognriders to do. But lately, its as if a show has fallen over the Weyr. Our beloved-by-everyone Weyrharper, Raiin, was killed at the last Snow's Festival, leaving a bereaved Sapphire Valureth alone with her small clutch of eggs, and Raiin's weyrmate, M'kal, with a broken heart. And other whispers have been circulating.

But its not all bad! It's been a ful turn since Raiin's death and things are looking up. M'kal is even starting to heal. Relationships are blooming nowadays, too. And We have a Scavenger Hunt going on for everyone in the Weyr. So far there are two teams of 7 I think. I'd join, but I have my hands full with Cloud Draognhold and my kids. My brother, S'ven, of Sand Corenth is the Candidate Master, and he's sending out Searchriders for more Candidates. We're gonna need them, and fast! Not only do we have VALURETH'S CLUTCH, but THREE QUEENS are RISING, too! Senior Weyrqueen Lilac Judurith of Weyrwoman Raelyn is already RISING, though of course everyone knows her mate Nimirith of G'rin will catch her again. Who knows how many eggs she'll CLUTCH, especially with so many other clutches around, 2 of which are Queen clutches. Then we'll hae Lilac Griffith and Gold Farlith, who seem likely to Rise around the same time. Faranth's shell I hope they don't Rise on the same day. Hopefully, they'll Rise within days of each other so they won't Fight. No, they won't I'm sure of it. Or at least, Verelith is. She says hi, too, belatedly. *laughs* Anyway, back on topic, we've got alot of other things happening. Including some more fun stuff. We're really interested in the New TALENTS of DRAGONKIND, so I'm sure they'll be some discussions in the WEYR about that. Besides that, and you'll liek this one, we've got a TURNING DAY BALL coming up! A BALL! Meaning, a party, a dance, a big, huge, celebration! Everyone's playing matchmaker for their friends and people are asking each other in widly romantic moments. It's pretty cute, actually. I've already said yes to K'ron, of course. It's fun! And I can't wait until the ball! It's the day before the turn ends, just so you know, although when that happens in your time is up for debate. Pern has its own time, after all. "Oh, and On a more serious level, there's some fear about how FELINES are mutliplying like terran RABBITS nearby the weyr... The WEYRLINGS BARRACKS are near the OUTER EDGE of the Weyr.... And as it gets colder, SNOW is falling more and more often. It's a fear that the HOLDS will get SNOWED IN at some point.. DRAGONRIDERS may have to SAVE THE DAY again! I Wonder if the TALENTS will be useful? If we even find out what they are!...

We've also got FREE FIRELIZARD EGGS in the SHOP, because it's closing for a few weeks. And I'll add that the owner's FIRELIZARD is pretty sure the FLITTS inside the EGGS are SPECIAL in SOME WAY... Especially after my friend Torriama's friend RYLSEA IMPRESSED a heretofore undiscovered COLOR of FLITTER, 'SUN'. You'd have to ask her for more information about it, though. We're currently ending Turn 2 of no thread, and about ot enter the 3rd. Moonlit Weyr is on the Western Isles, overlooking a main hold, Nighet, a Starhall, and a Wher Caverns. Moonlit haas new colors of Draognkind, including a new queen rank and king rank, as well as new 'shiny' ranks (dusk, white, silver). And Moonlit Weyr also has new Talents, or mind-associated abilities, for these new colors. We've gota Scavenger hunt, free firelizard eggs, and a Turn's end Ball, 3 Queens Rising over the course of a few sevendays, maybe up to a month, and a Sapphire's clutch on the Sands that is about to hatch. We've got worries about snowstorms, felines, and a lack of candidates for the upcoming clutches, and our old weyrharper was killed. Hm... strnagely enough M'kal's falling in love with the new Weyrharper.. does he have a thing for singers? Ooops! Joking, mostly. Honestly.
