'Night' egg- This tiny egg is perfectly black like the night sky in wintertime.
‘'Frost' egg- This tiny egg is a shimmering silver-white with a hint of ice-blue in it.
'Candy' egg- This ovular egg's shell is a mottled mix of calm yellow-green, bright violet, and cool pale blue. It looks like a candy cane mixed with grass. It is a large, oddly-shaped egg.
'Sky' egg- This egg is robin's-egg blue, perfectly smooth and freckled with brownish spots.
'Halloween' egg- This egg is a bright, pumpkin-orange with a slight sheen to it.
Dearyth was apprehensive waiting in the hatching grounds. She didn’t want to be apprehensive, she couldn’t help it though. These were her eggs, these were her babies. But the candidates wouldn’t be candidates if they weren’t suitable to come to touch her eggs. She explained all this to Hanrak as well, who wasn’t concerned one bit, but Dearyth was still trying to convince herself.
If you don’t like them, then you are allowed to tell them to go away. You have the right of that.
But I don’t want to tell them to go away, I just don’t particularly want them to brush my eggs...
Trust me, it will be fine, you can keep a close eye on them, and if they do anything you don’t want, you can tell them off. We also have S’ven and Corenth keeping an eye on the candidates, as they are the candidate masters. It will be fine, I will be right beside you the whole time.
Fine. But I want Rinath here as well... He is lucky, as Weyrling Master, he gets to look after our babies after they have hatched, there are so few of them...
She gazed at her five small eggs.
You will still get to see them after they hatch. And even if they don’t want you to be, you will always be their mother. Don’t become too overprotective when they get their riders. It will make it hard for the Weyrlings...
I will try...
Are you ready for the candidates?
I ‘suppose I am as ready as I will ever be, bring them on...
She said the last bit with some slight humour in her voice...
