Wild green's clutch HATCHING

Raelyn looked at the clutch of eggs lanrie and xeroti had brought to the Weyr not too long ago. It had taken the two girls a bit of work, she assumed, to get the clutch of eight here safely, but nonetheless...

The eggs were hatching! Eight tiny little eggs that barely showed their colors. Unlike with dragon eggs, it was hard, very hard, to tell the difference. But she herself had marked on the shells the egg's number, and whoever had claimed that number would stand by that egg, and hope too impress the baby flitter.

She wondered if that white egg would hatch... and the pumpkin egg was unclaimed, as was one other...

Who would impress those?

Raelyn pushed thoughts away and backed out of the tunnel. "Judu" She said to her Lilac dragoness, "Woould you be a dear and notify the flitt-candidates that the clutch is going to hatch?" Judurith had told Raelyn herself this mornign, but no-one knew when today they would crack shell.

Judurith nodded her great indigo-shaded head and sent out a thought to the flitter-egg-candidates.


Not too important, but the Weyrwoman would like me, Judurith, to bespeak you who wish to impress fire lizards! Their hatching will be today, so please come down to the firelizard sands. Remember that you will have to crawl in to the sands. The cieling in the tunnel was alot lower than it was in the actual flitter sands. The low, curved cieling opened up into a five-foot tall by ten across 'room'. It was heated the same way the hatchign sands were, but alot smaller in size. anyone ttaller than 4'9 would probably have to remain seated or hunched over.

Raelyn had had to kneel to fit in the miniature sands...



1 Agate- a blue and green and pinkish swirled egg --claimed by Inkith for EVELON HATCHED- Spiral 'Ceriba'
2 Fools Gold- a slightly orangey egg that is a similar color to a gold, but cannot possibly be one. It is more coppery than anything else, however --claimed by Inkith for D'RELI
3 Periwinkle- pale blue with white speckles --Claimed by Wildfire for TESSA HATCHED Blue 'Merlin'
4 Fog- murcky greenish egg with blue smears on it --Reserved for Rayne POTM ((most likely XEROTI))
5 Ice- pale, pale whitish egg. possibly a dud or white is this. --claimed by wildfire for IVORY HATCHED- White 'Fang'

6 Pumpkin- an bright orange egg that is similar to the fool's gold egg
7 Deeps- this blue egg is a deep, ultramarine colored blue. no other color is on this egg --claimed by Admin for LANRHAKAH-HATCHED- Blue Sampson

8 Dunes- a pale, pale sandy-colored egg that is ovular in shape -Impressed to Saddie Levvy- HATCHED- Sand Aandy[/color]

Tessa heard the call of the Weyrwoman's dragon and grinned. She'd heard about the clutch that the two candidates had brought in and had been thinking of getting Aurora a playmate.

"Let's go 'Rora." she called to her flitter. The silver flit chirped goodnaturedly and perched herself on Tessa's shoulder. The pair headed to the hatching cavern and squeezed in. Thankfully she was small enough to fit. One of the only times her small size cam in handy she guessed.

Ivory tilted her head at Jurdith's call. "Oh Firelizards! I'm gonna go see if I can get one, Rio." she called to her dragon as she headed out. Her dragon rumbled in amusement. Her's had wanted a flitter for a while now. Rio hoped her rider got one. But they would have to see.

Evelon heard as Judurith broadcasted the news of the firelizard hatching. He had claimed one of the eggs ages ago, and since then a been desperately awaiting the hatching time. Now that it was finally here, he couldn't contain his excitement, he hurriedly threw on a less creased shirt, because he knew the Weyrwoman would be there.

When he got to the sands, he almost didn't fit through that gap, having to turn to the side to fit his shoulders through... He already knew what egg was his, as soon as he saw it... The Agate egg, it was nearest to him and he saw the number 1 written on the side of it... His egg, his firelizard inside... He was almost quivering with the excitment of what was to come.

D'reli was just wandering around aimlessly not knowing that the hatching was even taking place...

Lanrie bounced to her feet off her bed in excitement. She'd never actually wanted a fire lizard until she and Xeroti had rescued that clutch, but now, she really wanted one of the miniature dragons.

She smiled and put on a pair of slippers before heading out to the flitt sands...

Raelyn looked out of the hole at Judurith, and saw a young man and two young women crawling through to the miniature sands. Evelon was a candidate, and she knew how hard he had taken it when he'd not imressed at Verelith's clutch's hatching, but she was happy he was coming to impress one of the firelizards. The two young women were the Candidate Tessa, who had a silver named Aurora; and Goldrider Ivory, of Rionith.

Judurith started up a conversation with her younger friend, while Raelyn welcomed the three.

"Welcome! I have the list of the claims, and dont worry, they're not quite ready yet! So, just come over to the clutch and i'll hand you the egg!" She told them. Thankfully, once they moved into the chamber that made the hatching sands, the ceiling became higher and there was more room overall.

She walked over to the eggs where Wilde, her feline, was playing mother 'flitt' by laying next to them, and pet the spotted feline.
He purred, and twitched his tail across one of the eggs. The egg was going to be given as a surprise to someone...



Lanrie ducked down and scrambled through the tunnel into the low-ceininged entry area.
"Hello! Have they begun to move yet?" She said cheerfully, a lilt in her voice.



Saddie wandered around the halls, aimlessly peeking into doorways. She was bored, cause her brother was off working on some project or other. So she'd run off while the nice weyrfolk ladies weren't minding her, and giggled for a bit. Then she got a little bit lost, and now she didn't know what to do. She didn't really want to go back to the little suite she shared with Tomas- it was annoyingly boring for a place in a weyr!

As she passed through one hallway, she saw a older girl with a braid of bright red hair vanish into a tunnel. She looked around and realized that she was near the hatchign grounds!

With a squeak, she scurried back from the opening. She'd heard that Silver Dearyth was in there, and saddie didn't want to get in trouble for bothering a mommy!

Saddie skipped away from there and over to that tunnel that the redhead had gone into.

"Whe'd she go?" She asked herself out loud. "On'y one way ta' fin' out...!" She grinned in a very adorable way before walking into the tunnel. It was just tall enouh that she didn't have to bend down, and she toddled right through and almost walked into Lanrie!

Lanrie turned around in surprise as she felt something touch her.
"Oh! Who are you?" She asked the little girl behind her. She moved into the higher-ceilinged area and turned to look at Saddie.

Raelyn looked around, and seeing the five year old, chuckled. "Oh, Lanrie, this is Saddie! Ivory remembers her- she'd the little sister of the toung man who chose to live at the weyr the other day. He's fixing the pipes right now, so i'm guessing Saddie here wandered away?" Saddie smiled sweetly and nodded.

"You shouldn't, Saddie, but you're here now, and i have a surprise for you!"Raelyn told her. Saddie came over and smiled at the young goldrider before following Raelyn to the clutch of eggs.

"This is the clutch that Lanrie and her friend xeroti found. There's one egg that hasn't been chosen yet, Saddie, and because a fire lizard is a perfect pet for a little girl, i want you to have it!" Raelyn gave Evelon his egg, Ivory her's, third to Tessa, and the next one to Lanrie before handing the Dunes egg to Saddie.

"Each of these eggs will hatch a baby firelizard, and once hatched, they will bond to you for life. You must care for them as you like to be treated- feed it, give it water, and a name too!" She annnounced.


Lanrie grinned and bounced again. "Great! Hey, Tessa- you think you know what might be in your egg?"


((ooc: okay, now we're just waiting for some rp and then the hatching! have d'reli walk past at some point? or come inside wondering like saddie? also, there's still one egg left unclaimed! the pumpkin egg, i think it is... anyone want it? raynie might possibly??? ))

Tessa and Ivory took their eggs, both young women smiling at the others gathered. Ivory smiled at Saddie.

"Of course I remember Saddie." she agreed as she studied her egg. Hopefully it wouldn't be a dud. It was so tiny though! Maybe it would hold a white or silver. Ivory grinned at the possiblilities of what might hatch from her egg. Really though she didn't care what she got. She would love her flitter no matter what.

Tessa grinned at Lanrie. "I think it'll probably hatch a blue or maybe a teal. I don't really mind what kind I get, though. I figure 'Rora would like a friend to have around when I'm doing chores and stuff." she replied. Aurora warbled in agreement and started humming deep in her throat. Tess tilted her head.

"Oh, I think they're going to hatch soon." she said excitedly.

Lanrie strode to the clutch and searched for her egg. "Got it!" she hurried back to the other two girls. "well, i dunno about a teal from a clutch like this- but who knows, with Verelith clutching a Teal, why not that greenie too? Well, i wonder what mine will hatch into! Hm... blue or sapphire, maybe?" Lanrie agreed with Tessa "Yeah, i think so long as it's healthy, i really don't care if its a blue a green or a tangarine!" she joked.


Saddie put her egg down hurriedly as it started shaking. "ihs it hatchin'?" She asked with her 'lithp' evident.

Raelyn chuckled and nodded. "Yep! Your egg is ready to start hatcing! But it wont be the only one to start!" she finished as the AGATE egg started quivering.

The Dunes egg by Saddie's feet stopped quivering for a moment and lay still, until the little girl reached out and put a warm palm on the surface. "C'mon outta thew, litta one!" She said to the sandy-collered egg.

It started moving again, faster and furious.

Miri's Skeye and Josie's Berry appeared and started humming along with Aurora, welcoming the new babies to the world.

A tiny- extremely tiny- beige head appeared in the crack on the shell of the egg. It forced dark brown paws out and then pushed the rest of the way out of the DUNES egg. Saddie squealed with delight , and almost scared the new Sand firelizard away. But the cutie paused, looked at her, and sat down, looking expectantly at the five year old.

"Here, feed him this Saddie!" Raelyn told her, and handed her a pastry filled with meat. She knew raw was probably better, but the girl was too young to be able to do that, and flitters ate practically anything!

Saddie grinned, her dimples showing, and held out a piece of the food to the Sand.

His eyes swirled red, then faded to greenish as he snaked out his head and grabbed the piece.
After a few seconds of feeding him one piece after another, the baby was in her hand, and curled up fora nap.

"I fewt sumthing touch my miwnd, weyawoman! Was that Aandy?" She asked.

"Yes, that was but here, the next one may hatch soon! Evelon, that's yours, right?" the AGATE egg still shook, as if it hadnt noticed its brother hatch at all.

Saddie went to a wall and sat down, holding the miniscule Sand named Aandy reverently.

Lanrie smiled "Tha's a cute name! You think so, Tess?" She asked the other candidate, her red hair moving as she turned her head quickly. Her egg sat as if asleep in her palms. She would put it down if it showed any signs of hatching, of course!

Evelon's egg shook by his feet (?) and it twitched, shivered, and quaked. Then the brightly colored egg swiveled across the sand before turning upside down. A pink and mint green leg stuck out of the shel suddenly, in one spot. a few seconds later, another leg pushed out, this one pale blue with pink stripes. The baby SPIRAL began running around with her upper body encased in the egg still. Finally, she got her front legs out, but she couldn't get her head or body out! She creeled up at Eveon, begging him to help her out of the trap called an egg!

Raelyn chuckled and then stared at the emergence of evelon's spiral. odd color combinations, but you could never tell with Spirals. there were normal colors like Verelith's pale pink and hot pink, odder ones like brown with indigo bars and spots, and sometimes oddballs like this new little one! blue, pink, and mint green, oh my!

She looked around and wondered whose eg would hatch next. Xeroti had come and so had another friend... whether that person would impress was actually up to them. The Pumpkin egg had no claimer, but when it hatched, the baby would probably find a person to impress to. likely it was the other.

The PERIWINKLE egg was now shuddering.. it seemed like Tessa would impress soon....

Tessa watched as the sand firelizard hatched. "Yeah that is a cute name." she agreed nodding. The little girl was so cute and Tess was sure that the child would take care of her new pet. Her eyes widened a bit at the Spiral. Lucky Evelon, the baby was so cute. She was sure they would get along.

She felt her own egg rattling and watched it for a moment before setting it gently on the ground. She sat cross-legged in front of it as she waited. What would hatch out of it?

Ivory smiled happily as Saddie's egg hatched first. "Aww, so cute!" she giggled, ever the lover of anything adorable. She glanced down at her own egg. The white orb was still at the moment and the goldrider sent encouraging thoughts to the hatchling inside.

"Don't worry I'll take good care of you." she murmured. She would indeed take good care of the egg. Oh she hoped it hatched! Her attention was stolen by Evelon's egg hatching. The egg hatched to reveal a Spiral.

"Oh how pretty." the goldrider said softly smiling at the candidate.

Tessa's egg shook in front of her once. Then twice. then it split evenly down the center and out spilled....

A BLUE! The little blue is about four inches long- regular fo a hatchling flitter. His hide is a pale, smooth shade of sky blue and he is marked all over with faint lighter and darker speckles.

The next to hatch was unclear, as most of the eggs had begun to move, all except for Ivory's tiny egg.

Raelyn looked over at Tessa. "Congratulations! He's a fine blue flitt. Ivory... If by the end of this, it does not hatch, im sorry he or she may not...."

Raelyn hoped it was a white rather than a dud!


But then, out of nowhere and with no warning, a scrabblign was heard even as the potential impressees stared at their eggs. The tiniest egg- as if it had needed her words to fidn the courage and reason, began clawing at it's egg!!!

"Oh! Well! You should hold it, Ivory- in case you have to help it out." She suggested, chucklign wit hsurprise on her face.



Saddie was busy feeding tidbits of anything Aandy liked to the little one, and the miniscule Sand was exuberant.

He soon finished and started to fall asleep on Saddie's forearm, of which he was only half the size of.

"what'da i do now Weyawoman? Can i switch 'im to my showlda?" She asked Raelyn, oblivious to anything but the half-closed eyes of her new pet and friend.


Raelyn nodded. If you want to, you can, or you can hold him in both arms. Oh, and tomorrow morning, you have to get up Really early to feed him, okay? His eyes turn red when he's hungry- or angry." She instructed the little kid. Saddie nodded and moved Aandy so that the Sand was lying in both her arms, his minimal weight distributed across both.

"I'll stay heeya untiw b'other comes looking for me" She said, and sat down against the wall of the cave.

The sand was warm by the walls, but not hot, so it was actually somewhat comfortable.

Appearance: she is a normal size for her breed, but her coloration is odd. her left back leg and front right arm are pink with mint green barrs, while the other leg and arm are pale blue with pink stripes. Her body is overall a mint-green with pale blue swirls all over.

Size at birth: 4 inches Adult size: normal size- a foot long (length of forearm from bend of elbow to fingertips)

OOC: Sorry this has taken so long! Halloween weekend has been crazy!))


Tessa watched as her egg hatched into a beautiful blue. Her eyes widened with delight. He was adorable! And so pretty! The lighter blue markings reminded her of falling rain.

"Aww aren't you precious!" she said bending down. The blue chirped at her curiously then his nose smelled the meat Tessa had grabbed and he scuttled closer to get some.

"Yes you can have some." Tessa chuckled as the flitter crawled up onto her lap and started chowing down. The girl giggled a bit and Aurora crooned happily at the new addition to their family.

"I think I'll name him Merlin." she said smiling. The blue looked up at her with a chirp, tilting his head. "Merlin it is. Merlin meet Aurora, Aurora meet Merlin." the girl introduced her flits to each other. She was sure they would get along. Aurora seemed to like Merlin already so there shouldn't be too many problems.

Ivory blinked at the Weyrwomans words. As harsh as they were they...her train of thought was interrupted by the feel of the egg moving in her hands. Her eyes widened.

"Oh! It's moving!" she exclaimed happily. She wondered what would hatch out of her egg. Maybe a white or even a silver! She couldn't wait to see what came out.

Ivory's pearly white egg gave a shudder in her palms. It shook and quivered and put up one hell of a fight! After roughly ten minutes which were annoyingly long and suspenseful, a tiny portion on the side of the egg facing Ivory was punctured from within. a small egg tooth showed through the tiny hole. It recedd into the hole and then a small rainbow eye showed through the hole.

Lanrie looked over, pursed her lips and suggested, "Ivory- if it's a white, it might need your help geting out!" She called over to the goldrider.

The little eye showing through the hole changed in color, from the impression-colored rainbow to a color tinged through with oranges and reds.
The baby firelizard within went all the way in side his egg and built up his energy. he rammed his whole body against his shell, and nearly tumbled out of Ivory's hands as it shattered beneath him.

Creeling desperately, he grabbed her fingers and clung with both back legs and one front arm. His wings flared out as he called to his. The eyes whirled in fear-colors like white and yellow overlayed on the rainbows of impression.
When he regained his footing, all could see what the firelizard looked like.

He was a White, that was for sure, but this White was the size of a brown, at least. It was amazing how he'd fit in that tiny egg! others around sighed, though, when they saw he only had three legs- the left front arm was missing! His pearlescent white hide was glossy and perfect, with no imperfections, and thousands of colors glinted off of him in rainbows. His wings had faint hints of the normal dragon colors in the transluscent fabric of the membranes.
His body was in proportion overall, with trim wings and a slim body.

He gathered himself and stared at Lanrie at the other side of the room, as if saying "of course i wouldn't need any help!!!" or something similar. Finally, he looked at His, the goldrider Ivory whose name fit his own coloration so well.

He creeled about his empty tummy and whined, but held his head high.

personality: Prideful, defiant, curious, dependant but pretend he is independant, _______
Appearance: He is a White the size of a brown. only has three legs- missing left front arm. His pearlescent white hide is glossy & perfect, with no imperfections. rainbows glint off his hide. His wings have faint hints of the normal dragon colors in the transluscent fabric of the membranes.
His body is in proportion overall, with trim wings and a slim body.
Size at birth: 7 inches long Adult size: about 15 inches long

Ivory's eyes widened as the egg shook ferociously in her hands. Suddenly it cracked along the side facing her and she saw a whirling eye. Ivory glanced over at Lanrie when the girl spoke and nodded. She was right it might need her help. But before she could move to help it the egg suddenly shifted in her palms and the hatchling came tumbling out after shattering the shell.

"Oh!" The goldrider exclaimed as the large white nearly tumbled out of her hands. He was nearly the size of a brown! She almost missed that the flitter only had three legs. When she noticed though it didn't really matter. His personality more than made up for it.

"Alright beautiful I'll get you something to eat." she said gently stroking the flitter who chirped happily. Ivory fed him small pieces as she thought of what to name her new pet.

"What about...Fang? He's got such a big personality I think it suits him." Ivory finally decided. Fang glanced up at her with a curious chirp before going back to his food. Ivory giggled at her flitter who after he finished eating clambered up onto her shoulder, his tail curling around her neck.

"Fang it is." Ivory decided smiling.

Lanrie's egg had bee nshaking the whole time, and she crouched near where it sat in the sands.
The DEEPS egg twisted on the spot, and Lanrhakah sat up straighter.

"Ooh! "

The dark blue egg shook and then it shattered into four even shards.

As the miniature clooud of dust cleared, a still figure could be seen laying in a circle from which the shards pointed out like points in a compass. Lanrie sighed sadly, and hesitated between moving forwards, and turning away. Dissapointment was clear on her face.

But then, a slight sound was heard. The baby stirred! It opened one eye, then the other. Then it closed both and made an effort to get up. But Lanrhakah didn't see- she was facing the other way!

While she wasn't looking ,the firelizard in her Deeps Egg flapped his damp wings to dry them, and stretched out his legs and arms.

Then he ran forwards, looking around.

Personality: Sneaky, loyal, brave, defensive
Appearance: He is a deep, dark blue all over, and might have been mistaken for a sapphire if it wasn't for his gender. His body is a blue the color of ultramarine, and he has no visable markings on his hide. it varies slightly along his body, getting slightly lighter from nose to tail tip.
Size at birth: 5 inches long, wingspan 6 Adult size: 26 inches, wingspan same.
Impressee: Lanrhakah

Evelon's face cracked in a giant grin when he saw his egg hatching, he moved forward eagerly, now knowing exactly what to do when it hatched... Three small legs were poking out of the egg by now, but the little firelizard couldn't get the rest of her head and body out of the egg. She looked funny, running around with her body still inside the egg. Evelon heard the creel from the little flit, realised that she needed help. He reached down a plucked her up off the miniature sands, pulling the shell away from her thin body.

She was a spiral, overall mint-green, but with weirdly striped legs, and pale blue swirls over the most of her body. Even with her odd colouration Evelon loved her, and after a quick check-over to make sure she was okay after the incident with her hatching, he started shoving her face with the food at hand.

“So, my little girl, what shall we name you...? What about Ceriba? I’ve heard it before, it is a version of hope.. I like it, Ceriba...”

D’reli had been wandering around aimlessly when he happened to walk past the firelizard hatchinf grounds.... Then something happened that he wasn’t expecting.....

As the next egg began to hatch, the small blue leaped off the ground and flapped his now-dry wings hard. He reached the shoulder of the girl he wanted to bond to, and dropped onto it. Lanrhakah gasped in surprise and looked at her shoulder. A giant smile grew on her face as she lifted the blue in her hands "Hello there, little one! You want to bond to me?" his chirp was nothing less than 'of course, now feed me!' Lanrie laughed and placed him oon her arm, where he wrapped his tail around tightly and chirped at her. "I think i'll call you Sampson, little one." she told him aas she fed him some peices of meat. Sampson's eyes whirled contented light blues mixed with greens, and Lanrie knew she had his approval for his name.

The second egg to be layed, which was the Fools Gold egg, then continued to hatch. it developed millions of tiny cracks spiderwebbed across it's surface, and some were growing larger and larger. Then, the little firelizard's head burst through in one spot, and he creeled angrily for his and for food as soon as his head was out. Finding no-one he wanted, he shoved his egg open, and it fell into shards after he climbed out of it. the baby crawled across between people's feet and out of the tunnel. It was colder out there, much colder, and he did not like it very much at all, but he continued to move along it, and he came out into the hallway through which D'reli was walking at that exact moment.

The Pyrite squaked at the one he had chosen, commanding him to stop walking past and pick him up from the cold hard stone and feed him that instant!

Raelyn peaked out of the tunnel, and looked up. D'reli would have aa handful with that one! she said to herself. Judurith, splashing in the lake, laughed in raelyn's head along with her.

But she didn't say anything, waiting to see if tthe pyriterider would notice the flitter.
