Wher Handler
Name: Nythel
Age: 17 Turns
Rank: Wherling
Personality: Nythel is not one to beat around the bush, and she's not afraid to work. Whether it's her share of chores or taking on someone else's work due to them being sick or injured. She doesn't mind it and often welcomes it. She loves Whers, and doesn't care who knows about it. She hopes to bond with a Wher at the next clutch, whenever that will be. She is jealous of her brother, Nayel, for bonding with his Wher. And she's also jealous of her cousin, Larwen, for his bronze Wher. For someone that just meets her, they may think of her bitter to her brother and nephew. But, she actually is happy for their Whers. And she loves her family dearly. She doesn't wish them ill.
She can hold a grudge against someone and will shun that person by ignoring them, unless she needs to speak with them about something that pertains to whatever task she is assigned to. She has a deep fear of fire and any creature that crawls, namely tunnelsnakes and things like trundlebugs. The fear of crawly things is common knowledge, and she doesn't care if anyone knows about it. She is a person that prefers to keep most things to herself. Even her opinions. She will give anyone her opinion if they ask for it, but she won't speak it aloud. And she keeps her thoughts to herself too. She's friendly, but comes off as closed off, sometimes.
DISLIKES: tunnelsnakes, anything that crawls, pushy people, heights
SECRETS: Cousin to the woman that had bonded to the Wher that is now Wild
DREAMS: Bond with a Wher
FEARS: Of not bonding to a Wher[/ul]
Appearance: Nythel has dark skin, but two shades lighter. She is tall for her age. She stands at 6 feet even. And looks like she won't grow any more. She is not lanky, as someone with her height might look. She's healthy and muscled. She weighs 195 pounds, with some fluxuation between 190 and 200. She has an exotic look about her. Her face is heart shaped, and her eyes are a bit slanted with the outer corners of her eyes moved upwards. Her eyebrows are naturally thin and shaped.
She prefers to wear clothing that will allow her to move easily, whether she is walking or helping with some other task that requires a range of movement. She usually has long hair reaching to the middle of her back, but she's cut it to her shoulders to manage it better. She usually has it back in a runner's tail to keep the majority of it from getting into her face when she's working. She typically wears earthy colors, browns, greens, golds, bronzes. She loves a belt that her brother bartered to get for her 15th birthing day. She wears it with everything. It's black with silver tooled studs.
History: There were three Handlers in her family, her brother, Nayel, her uncle, Ceinek, and her cousin, Berinek. Her mother gave birth to her during a cold winter night. Or so she'd been told. She didn't credit her brother for actually telling any sort of truth. But, she was gullible to think, at a young age, that what he told her about Whers eating children that didn't behave was nothing more than a scare tactic. She believed him and did anything he told her to do.
Her other siblings were in on it, and when Nyle and Nathek found out, all of her older siblings were punished. They had to do all of her chores for two sevendays. She felt bad for them doing her chores, but she liked it more than she let any of her family know. She was pestered constantly by her siblings and the children of a few other cotholders in the area. she hated the teasing because of her unusual height. But after a while, it got old, and she started to ignore them. What should she care if they didn't like that she was taller than them? Her brother had just became old enough to seek apprenticeship. She'd thought he would wonder to another place away from their home, but no.
He didn't hesitate when he told their parents he was entering into the Wher Craft at Fort WherHold. Their parents agreed to his decision and made sure to save as many marks as they could for him to buy his first Wher Egg. At the age of fourteen, Nayel left the cothold and shortly arrived at the WherHold. It was almost two months before they heard from him again. His letter informed them that he'd bonded successfully to a handsome blue Wher! Nythel was very happy for him, and longed to join him there and have a chance at bonding to a Wher. It wasn't until the next Turn that she was given the chance to go to Fort WherHold.
And when the time came, her parents refused to let her go. Nythel was angry. She flew into a rage, and ran from the family home. But she didn't stay away for long, only until night fell. Her mother was so worried, she'd been crying. Nythel told her parents that she wanted to be a Wherhandler like her brother, and uncle, and cousin. Her parents said they would think about it. They thought about it for several days before finally agreeing to let her go. she eagerly packed her meager clothing, ready to go the very next day. Her brothers, Nathel and Kethal, and sister, Nya, joined her on her travel to the WherHold by runner. Their older brother, Nylek, escorted them and returned back home with the runners.
She'd never thought that she'd be put to work almost immediately upon arriving. She'd hoped to be able to bond with a Wher quickly. But that was not the case. Their brother, Nayel, greeted them and showed them to their rooms and let them settle in before showing them around the WherHold. For a brief moment he introduced them to his blue Wher, Nayesk. Her other two brothers and sister seemed to be revolted by the Wher. Nythel thought he looked a bit ugly, but as she watched her brother interact with the blue, she could see there was love in her brother's eyes. Something she'd never seen in him before. So, Whers must be something special, indeed, right?
The next day, she threw herself into her chores. Even the disgusting ones that her sister, Nya, hated. She loved it. She was actually enjoying herself, cleaning the Hatching sands for the Whers. And not to mention muching out the living quarters of the Whers, and supplying new straw bedding. She even helped a few of the Handlers with bathing their Whers. Even her brother asked her to help in the care of his Wher. She loved every moment spent with the Blue, learning and interacting with him. As she moved through her lessons and duties, she made friends fairly easily. And they loved Whers as much as she did! They would be in the Dining Hall to the late candlemarks of night.
Among some others, she and her sister and brothers were sent to Moonlit Weyr. Before she left, her oldest brother gave her a firelizard egg, it hatched the day before they left to reveal a darling, tiny white firelizard. The the tiny white was born blind.
