M'kal and Rinath touched down on the common room's ledge. Just down the hall were the Weyrling barracks. As Weyrlingmasters, Rinath and M'kal were in charge of teaching the Weyrlings as well as keeping them in order.
M'kal patted Rinath's grey-black neck silently, and walked down the hall. He wanted to wake the older Weyrlings up first- about a turn old already, the Weyrlings fomr Verelith's clutch had already had first manned flight, so they would assist in the teaching of the younger ones.
He and Rin were going to teach them about flying together. More precisely, the dragonets would learn to fly with weighted sandbags on their backs, with saddle straps on, and eventually make their way up to a weight near to that of their Rider. But for today, they would be given the lightest weights.
There was more to flying than just thinking you could! Especially with a rider on board.
Mine, You're right. It is harder to fly when your muscles are weak and tired, even if you have willpower. They will have to learn, even without Threadfalls.
M'kal agreed. He put his hand on the wall and listened carefully. He imagined the layout that Rin had shown him moments ago. There was a room coming up, and he could hear a faint sound of sleep. M'kal grinned. He rapped on the first door. "Wake up! Lesson in 10 by the weyrling bowl!" He called in. Then M'kal felt for the wall and continued to the next room. This one was all older Weyrlings, and he actually went in and had Rinath pull the blanket off of D'RELI on purpose.
"Wake up sleepy heads! You're playing teacher's helpers today!"
Rinath cautioned Tarath just in case- those Pyrites had short tempers.
M'kal left the room moments later and went to the door of an all-hatchlings room. "Wake up younglings- you've got an important lesson today! Don't be late!" He siad , peeking his head in the door.
Z'ver and Roloth were in there. M'kal liked the young blue weyrling, despite the fact that so far as Rinath had shown him,. Z'ver looked like a child still mroe than a weyrling. And Roloth was adorable, even though he assumed Rin's mind was a bit biased!
Rinath crooned happily. Surprisingly to M'kal, the Dragon had retained a fatherly opinion of his offspring even after they safely Impressed. Rinath laughed, a choppy, but still easily-identified, sound.
"Good morning!" He said quietly as he walked right into the next room.
"Lesson in 10."
