Ariya had slept fitfully. It was nearly dawn and she'd barely gotten any sleep due to being unusually restless. Faith had been snappy recently and the teen had been walking on eggshells around her dragoness, not knowing what would set her off next. She suddenly felt trapped in her room in the weyrling barracks. Slipping out of her bed she quickly dressed in a pair of black trousers and a blue tunic before slipping on boots. Then making sure her flitters were asleep she slipped outside. She quietly made her way to the weyrbowl and arrived just as dawn was breaking. She watched the sunrise entranced by the colors as Pern greeted a new day. Suddenly hunger and lust shot through her in a surge of heat. Yelping she shot to her feet eyes darting around.
What had that been?
Suddenly a familiar roar reached her ears and for a moment the girl was frozen the color draining from her face. She knew now what was happening.
Faith was rising.
"No..." she murmured softly shaking her head.
/Yes mine. I must Fly.I must do this. I am sorry but it will be alright./ the spiral dragoness spoke to her rider as she made her way to the feeding pens.
Fine, but blood it, Faith. I won't have your Flight ruined from an over-full stomach. the teen snapped. For a moment there was a battle of wills between the two but then Faith relented blooding her kill. The spiral lifted a bloody maw and let loose another challenging roar as she issued her challenge to the males of the weyr.
/Come boys if you think you are worthy. Think you can keep up with me?/ The message delivered the spiral settled to wait. She would not wait long however. She needed to Fly.
Ariya had debated on hiding but she knew that hiding wouldn't keep the riders or their dragons away. Besides she was no coward. She made her way to an empty weyr on the ground floor to wait for the riders. She had to stop for a moment as she felt the feeling of hot blood rushing down her throat. A soft moan that was a mix of terror and pleasure escaped her before she could move again. She finally reached the room and a sense of relief washed over her as she closed the door. She might have been tempted to lock it but left it unlocked. She began pacing as she waited, feeling tightly strung, like an notched arrow.
Why did it have to be now?
Shaking her head sharply she locked that trail of thought firmly away. There was no use whining over it because it was happening and there was nothing she could do about it. She could get through this, it wasn't going to kill her. She finally came to stand in the middle of the room to await the riders. She might be scared but she was going to try to hide it however well that would work.
