As the sun rose in the sky, the watery yellow light slowly krept across the Weyrbowl and the lake, lighting everything up in soft, cool tones. It was a sevenday before turn's end and most weyrfolk, human or draconic, were asleep or just waking for the day. A flash across the ground, a slim, dakr shadow that seemed to be winged, a low noise, and then the shadow zipped away and disapeared. If anyone was paying attention they may have gotten the idea that a dragon had been down in the weyrbowl. But the light and angle of the rising sun made everything look flat and shadowy.

Moments after the shadow was gone, the sun broached the horizon and everything brightened, turning golden. And the light sparkled off of something big in the Weyrbowl, on the bank of the lake, only a few dragonlengths away from the chilly water.

What was it? It appeared to be, however unusual the circumstances it was in, to be a Dragon Egg. A glittery, multi-colored, flashy-looking Egg.

Where had it come from?!
It's unclear, but if anyone had been watching out of their windows, they may have seen that the dragonlike shadow was there moments before the egg was there. It's assumed that the dragonlike shadow left the Egg.

Why?

What to do about it?
It's the middle of Sharding WINTER!!! And a Draogn Egg should never get cold for too long! The baby inside will die if its left out there too long. Not only that, but the tide is coming in, too. And the water's colder than the air right now.

What should happen? First? Get the sharding egg inside to the Sands where it is warm! Then have a dragon take care of it! Then call CAndidates, because a Firelizard that just flew past the egg started humming very softly. It's probably oging to hatch once it warms up! Call the Candidates! Once you get it warm, that is!

Egg Name: The Peacock Mystery Egg
Egg Description: It's shell's surface is a myriad mix of blues ,greens, aquas, purples, pinks, and even touches of greenish-yellow. Mostly dominated by a wide range of cooler colors, this mysterious egg's coloration is similar to that of a peacock. In more way than one, actually. The egg, despite not being a Queen Egg, is quite clearly shimmery like one, glittering as if someone sprinkled sparkles all over it. The egg is about the size of one a brown might hatch out of, though why a brown's egg would be metallic is anybody's guess. We'll just have to wait and see what hatches... Right now the egg seems to be glowing, as gold and lilac eggs do when they're nearly ready to hatch. It's not very bright yet, but it soon will be. The egg's surface is rock-hard, as it should be this near ot hatching, but it's surface is rapidly getting cooler to the touch. It's a very pretty egg to look at, glittery and quite mysterious.

Status: soon to hatch, but needs to get to teh Sands first and wamr up for at least an hour before its likely to hatch.

Transiit rolled over on her bed. Feeling the warmth next to her a smiling in recollection. Y'san.

He had asked her to the turning day ball. And she, of course, had said yes. That was great. Although she had to admit, his 'killing time' was much better.

The sun was just peeking over the horizon, it's watery-yellow rays filtering through her window. But all was not quiet. All was not still.

A shadow moved across the Weyrbowl. And the Sunset-Riders eyes followed it. The shadow disappeared as it neared the lake and a glint in the morning sun replaced it.

"Y'san!" She nudged her Weyrmate... Transiit was momentarily distracted at how easily it slotted into her thoughts. Her Weyrmate, Y'san....

Y'san was completely fast asleep when Transiit awoke, blissfully remembering their night together in his dreams. So he had barely moved as Transiit stirred. He did feel, rather dimly, Nrieth notice something in the Weyrbowl, but Y'san was still tired. Wasn't often he let himself sleep in, but the prospect of a morning spent with Transiit had him smiling in his sleep.

And then she called his name and he felt her nudging him to wake up. He made a small noise and blinked his eyes open.

"unhh?? Wh?...." He mumbled. He reached out towards her, smiling, and played with her soft brown hair. "Wh's up luv?" He mumbled to her, green eyes blinking slowly.

Out in the Weyrbowl the egg rocked a little, chilled, its movements were slowign down.

Transiit smiled back at him. Loving how easy it was to wake up beside him.

"I thought I saw something... Look at the bank near the lake. Can you see it."

She leant across him on the bed and pointed at what she was talking about.

Y'san groaned very softly and pushed himself up on his elbows. "What did you see?" He asked, even as he was turning on his side and following Transiit's gaze towards the shiny thing near the lake.

"Wait... Yeah! I wonder what that could be..." He looked at his bare chest and chuckled. "If you ahve the idea in your head for us to fly down there, I'd better get dressed, eh?" He said with a smile.

Transiit turned to look at him, she was streched over his lap and she reached up to give him a kiss, one hand on his chest.

"Well you don't have to just yet." She said against his lips, with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

She kissed him harder, but her curiousity was getting the better of her, she leaned back.

"Nup. I can't stand the wait. I know they say curiousity killed the cat, but I really want to know what that was... Anyways, we can grab somethings from the kitchen on the way back and continue this." She guestured between the two of them and their pressed together bodies the twinkle still in her eyes.

"And I have to get dressed too." She got up from the bed, not bothering to drag the furs with her to cover herself, he had seen it all anyways. She walked to one side of the room, picking up his clothes scattered across the floor and chucking them to him as she walked. Transiit bent over to open the chest in one corner of the room rooting around and searching from some clothes...

Y'san smiled as Transiit kissed him, and his eyes sparkled back at her's. If she'd rather stay in bed this morning?...

But she changed her mind. Honestly, curiosity about that mysterious thing by the lake was eating at him too, and he sat up as she leaned back.

"I'm curious too, love. I like the sound of conntinuing later..." He said with a grin, pushing off the blankets as Transiit got off of the bed. He gazed at her as she moved around the room, and barely caught his clothes as she threw them to him.

His trousers landed on his head and he pulled them off with a laugh. "Hey! My pants don't belong on my head; if they are then I wont be able to see you!" Y'san said, slipping off the bed and beginning to dress. As soon as he had his lower half dressed, he slung his shirt over his shoulder and came over ot Transiit, kissing her shoulder before moving back a bit and pulling his shirt on.

"Will Aireth give us both a lift? Nrieth's still sleeping." He asked her.

Transiit shivered a little when he kissed her on the shoulder, but shook it off. She couldn't get distracted.

"She better..."

"Aireth! Get up"

The Sunset dragon squeezed her eyes shut tightly.

I'm still sleeping

"Not anymore"

Transiit's eyes twinkled and she took a running leap out of the room and onto her waking dragon.

"Come on! There's something strange in the Weyrbowl and I want to check it out."

No! Sleeping!" Although even the Sunset couldn't keep the curiousity out of her voice... After a few seconds she gave in... Fine! Tell your boyfriend to get up here and we'll go.

Y'san looked apologetic.

"She's not asleep, too, is she? I mean, his sleep's not priority over her's! I cna wake him, too." Y'san suggested. But he couldn't help but smile as Transiit's eyes twinkled and she launched herself out of the room proper and onto Aireth.

He chuckled, and then followed her slightly more slowly. Curiosity was eating at him and he wanted to get down there as fast as possible. And Nrieth was a bit harder to wake and get ready to fly than Aireth. His medical issues were present early in the morn.

"But I would appreciate it anyway..." He said. Nrieth's mind had no traces of waking in it, so far as he could tell.

"Nah. It's ok. She was awake. She just pretend not to be. Come up and we can go down."

Aireth didn't wake very long until she took of over the ledge, Transiit clung tightly to Aireth's back with her thighs, feeling Y'san's warm body behind her she leaned back into him. Savouring his warmth in the cool night air.

Where exactly am I going? Transiit coveryed a image to her dragon through their link, and the dragon made a slow swing downwards towards the lake and the object on the shore..

"It's... It's... A..."

Y'san smiled. "Oh, good. Coming!" He called up, running up towards ihs weyrmate. He looked at the sunset dragon and once Transiit was mounted, Y'san pulled himself up and settled in behind her. His smile didn't drop as Transiit leaned back into him, and he, having nothing much to hold onto, wrapped his arms around her waist.

Then they were wheeling down towards the lake, and Y'san squinted against the watery sunlight glittering on the object there.

"A dragon egg?!" Y'san finished her sentence, incredulity in his smooth voice. "What in faranth's shell is a dragon egg doing down there?" He said softly, leaning over Transiit's shoulder.

"We should land."

"Woah...."

"Aireth! Land just next to it!"

Following her riders orders the sunset dragon winged slightly to the left and Transiit jumped off before they were fully on the ground, jogging towards the egg on the ground. She placed her hand on the egg, it was cold. Too cold.

She turned to Y'san. "We're going to have to get it to the sands as quick as possible, at the temperature it is now, we might even be too late."

Y'san stared at the dragon egg before he realized that Transiit was already off Aireth's back and running towards the anomolous egg. He patted Aireth's neck softly.
"Thanks, Aireth." He said, sliding down to th eground before running after his weyrmate. Coming upon the dragon egg, Y'san nodde,d unhappy about how cold the egg really was when he put his hand on it.

"I think if we get it on the sands fast enoghu it should have a chance at still hatching a healthy dragonet.... I wonder how it got here..." He said, voice trailing off as he walked around it. As dragon eggs go it was a mid-sized one, larger than a blue's but not as big as a bronze egg despite its slight shimmer.

"Yep, we defiantely need ot get it on the sands fast." He added, going over ot Transiit and kissing her cheek before placing his hand softly on the egg again.

"Well, we wont find out why it's here by leaving it here. Air-?"

If you get out of my way, I will take it to the sands. She said surprisingly patiently.

"Ok OK Sorry."

She looped her arm through Y'san's and started walking towards the sands. When she had turned around, Aireth ws holding the egg delicately in her claws and beating her wings to take her off the ground and to the Hatching Sands.

"Maybe we should alert Raelyn?"
